Paddy Pallin Urban
Saturday 7th November 2015
Sydney CBD, NSW
The ever popular Paddy Pallin Urban ‘Amazing Race’ was held on Saturday 7th November in Sydney’s CBD. A great mix of social and racing competitors of all ages gathered near Central train station under slightly overcast skies with a buzz of anticipation.
The Paddy Pallin Urban differs significantly to the usual adventure race by having a more family fun feeling and focusing on cryptic clues to find your way around the city. With most modes of transport allowed there was plenty of time to be made up with the smart use of public transport or route selection.
Once at one of the 19 check points there were a number of fun challenges ranging from Karaoke, Obstacle Courses, Kayaking, finding the ever popular Icebreaker Ramotaur, the cute and cuddly Marmot or Salsa Dancing.
The social class saw a massive 137 teams. With the largest percentage being women and 1st timers racing around the CBD for 4 hours. Congratulations to all competitors and especially those who climbed upon the podium at the end of the racing. Social results can be found HERE.
A huge turn out of 180 teams competed in the Racing category with women once again proving to be the largest class. Over the 6 hours many teams covered close to 40km around the city with some tired legs but plenty of smiles to be seen. Special mention must be made of the Armstrong brothers of the Belrose Bicycles team who took a clean sweep of all the NSW based races this year, congrats lads. Fortunately the rain just held of for the presentations before everyone made a dash for the train or the nearest pub to recall the stories of the day. Full Racing results can be found HERE.
The crew from Cancer Council NSW who was the official charity partner for the Paddy Pallin Urban greatly appreciated all of the donations from the day. Their massage table was a massive hit at the end of the day relaxing sore muscles.
The last of the Paddy Pallin Adventure Series will be held in Melbourne on the 21st November. So get in quick if you want to join the fun.
